Who We Are
Standing Waves
For eight years, Standing Waves has offered this ancient time-honored method of a safe, gentle
internal bathing of the colon. Using state-of-the-art hygienic equipment, colon hydrotherapy
is a safe, gentle, and effective method of rinsing waste from the large intestine without the use
of drugs. The introduction of warm, filtered water into the colon softens and loosens the waste,
resulting in evacuation through a natural wave-like motion called peristalsis. During your private
session, we also utilize reflexology and aromatic oils to assist the body in relaxing and releasing
toxic waste. We also offer a Cleansing Ayurvedic Mud or Herbal Steam in combination with Message
Therapy.

Currently, Elayne owns Standing Waves Colon Hydrotherapy and Massage and believes that one should do the
type of work that one is most passionate about. Elayne's full time commitment to the holistic field was a
result of her own personal struggle to regain her health after becoming ill with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
and then later personal tragedy of her mother’s terminal colon cancer.
It was while she was caring for her mother and because of the death of her sister-in law, Eleanor, a year
earlier from colon cancer at the young age of thirty - five that she became fully aware of the need for
education about the care and feeding of the colon. According to the Cancer Society’s data, the rate of
colon cancer was one death every 9.3 minutes. Armed with this information and having lost two relatives
to colon cancer, she started her journey and began to address what she considered a real personal crisis.
In 2000, Elayne opened the current office at 5100 N. Sixth Street just three days before her mother died.
Although her mother’s death was heart breaking, Elayne found her true passion and began to build a business that
would help people cope with constipation; a condition that some holistic practitioners believe is the root
of all illness. Anticipating that most clients would be older, seniors in the community she was surprised to
find a clientele that included not only a wide age range from 10 years to 96 years, but also younger professionals
and non-professionals alike.
As a Colon Hydrotherapist Elayne's fulfillment comes from first helping to alleviate constipation, and second by
providing an on going way to avoid the return of constipation by holding educational classes to teach diet
and lifestyle changes.
